Plans and billing
Everything about what CustodyProof costs, what each plan includes, and how to manage your subscription. All payments are handled by Stripe — CustodyProof never sees or stores your card number.

Started on Documentation and want Vero later? Case Builder is one click away from Settings, the in-app upgrade prompts, or the Vero page — the switch takes effect immediately and Stripe prorates the difference.
Paying and access
- New signups pay the plan price at checkout and get full access immediately — there is no trial period.
- You can cancel anytime and keep access through the period you paid for. If a charge doesn't look right, email support@custodyproof.com and a real person will sort it out.
- Documentation does not include Vero. Vero requires Case Builder — pick it at checkout, or upgrade anytime: the Case Builder plan starts immediately and Vero unlocks right away.
- Signed up before July 2026? Accounts started under the earlier free-trial terms keep those terms for the remainder of their trial.
Monthly vs. yearly
Both are available at signup — the Monthly / Yearly toggle sits above the plan cards, and each card also shows the other option's price — and you can switch later in the billing portal; Stripe prorates the change. Yearly saves roughly 20%.
Managing your subscription
Go to Settings → Subscription → Manage Subscription. This opens the secure Stripe billing portal, where you can:
- Update your payment method
- Switch between monthly and yearly billing
- View invoices and receipts
- Cancel your subscription
Your Settings page also shows your plan, trial or renewal date, and (on Case Builder) your monthly Vero AI usage meter.
Upgrading to Case Builder
Any upgrade button (Settings, the upgrade banner, or the Vero page) starts the upgrade. Case Builder replaces your current plan — it's a new plan, not an add-on:
- Mid-cycle: Stripe prorates automatically, so you're only charged the difference for the remaining time.
- Your billing cadence carries over — yearly subscribers upgrade to yearly Case Builder.
If Vero doesn't appear immediately after upgrading, refresh the page or revisit the Vero page — it re-syncs your subscription.
If a payment fails
Don't panic — your access doesn't stop. Your account enters a grace period: you keep full access while Stripe automatically retries your card over the following days, and a banner appears at the top of every page — "Your last payment failed — update your payment method to keep access" — with an Update payment method button that opens the billing portal.
- Once a retry succeeds, the banner clears on its own.
- If all retries fail, the subscription lapses and access pauses until you resubscribe. Your data is kept.
Canceling
Cancel from Settings → Subscription → Manage Subscription in the billing portal.
- Canceling mid-period keeps your access until the end of the time you've paid for.
- Canceling never deletes your data.

Coming back (resubscribing)
Sign back in any time. You'll land on the "Welcome Back!" page — choose monthly or yearly and Resubscribe Now. Billing starts immediately, and everything you previously recorded is right where you left it.
Chargebacks and disputes
If you have a billing concern, please contact support first — disputes are handled case-by-case, and we can usually resolve issues directly.
A factual note on how disputes work: if a payment dispute (chargeback) filed with your card issuer is decided against the account, the account is closed — its subscriptions are canceled and access ends. You'd see a page explaining this at your next sign-in, along with a short email notice. If you believe a closure happened in error, contact support@custodyproof.com and we'll review it — closures can be reversed by our team.
Legacy subscribers
If you subscribed under the original single plan ($9.75/month or $99/year), you keep your original price — nothing is migrated or repriced. Your plan corresponds to the standard feature set, and you can upgrade to Case Builder at the current prices if you want Vero.
Quick answers
- When am I charged? Immediately at checkout — new signups and resubscribers alike.
- What happens right after I pay? A brief activation screen finishes setting up your account — usually within a minute or two, automatically. If it needs longer, you'll see "Your payment went through" with a Try again button; your access unlocks on its own once activation completes. If it doesn't, email support@custodyproof.com.
- Could I be charged twice? No — if you already have an active subscription, checkout sends you into the app instead of charging again.
- I closed the checkout page without paying. No charge was made — you'll return to the plan page with a "Checkout cancelled — you have not been charged." confirmation.
- Receipts? In the billing portal (Settings → Subscription → Manage Subscription).
- Promo codes? Enter them on the Stripe checkout page when subscribing or upgrading.
- Refunds? Your first charge is covered by a 30-day money-back guarantee. While your window is open, refund yourself in seconds from Settings → Subscription → Request a refund — or email support@custodyproof.com if you prefer. That guarantee is the only refund we offer — renewals, upgrades, resubscriptions, and requests after the 30 days aren't refunded. Instead, cancel any time and keep access through the period you've already paid for. See How to cancel, and our refund policy.
