How to cancel, and our refund policy
Canceling takes about thirty seconds and never deletes anything you've recorded. Here's exactly how it works, plus what to do if something went wrong with a charge.
How to cancel
- Open Settings (in the top-right utility menu on mobile, or the left menu on desktop).
- Scroll to Subscription.
- Click Manage Subscription. This opens the secure Stripe billing portal — the same place your card and invoices live.
- Choose Cancel plan.
- Confirm the cancellation on the screen that follows.
That's it. There's no form to fill out and no retention call — you don't need to email us to cancel.
What happens after you cancel
- You keep access through the period you already paid for. Cancel three days into a monthly cycle and you have the rest of the month; cancel mid-year on a yearly plan and you have the rest of the year. Your renewal/end date is shown in Settings → Subscription.
- Your data is never deleted. Every calendar entry, evidence file, expense, and report stays exactly where it is. If you come back later, sign in and resubscribe — everything is right where you left it.
- You'll get a confirmation email letting you know the cancellation is scheduled and when access ends. If it doesn't arrive, check spam and confirm the email address on your account.
- No further charges. Once the cancellation is scheduled, the subscription won't renew.
If your payment had already failed before you canceled, access ends right away rather than at the end of the period — there was no paid period left to run out.
The 30-day money-back guarantee
Your first charge — monthly or yearly — is covered by a 30-day money-back guarantee, and you can use it yourself, instantly, without emailing anyone:
- Open Settings → Subscription.
- While your 30-day window is open, you'll see Request a refund.
- Pick a reason, confirm, and the refund is issued immediately — your full payment goes back to your original payment method and the subscription is canceled at the same time.
Prefer email? support@custodyproof.com works too — email requests are processed within 5 business days.
A few specifics:
- It applies once per customer, to the first charge of your first subscription only — not to renewal charges, plan upgrades, or resubscriptions.
- The refund and the cancellation happen together, so nothing renews afterward. Access to paid features ends as soon as the refund is issued.
- Your records are not deleted — everything you logged stays saved, and it's all right there if you ever come back.
The full policy is in our Terms of Service.
After the 30 days: cancel instead
The 30-day guarantee on your first charge is the only refund we offer. Renewal charges, plan upgrades, resubscriptions, and any request after the 30-day window are not refunded.
What you can do instead is cancel — it takes thirty seconds (steps above), and:
- You keep full access through the period you've already paid for. Nothing is lost by canceling early in a cycle other than the unused time.
- Nothing renews after that. Once the cancellation is scheduled, there are no further charges.
- Your records stay saved. Every entry is still there if you ever come back.
If you've been charged for a renewal you'd rather not have paid for, canceling now is the way to make sure it doesn't happen again — the current period runs out on its own.
If a charge doesn't look right — one you don't recognize, or a subscription someone else in your household started — email support@custodyproof.com before disputing the charge with your bank. Write from the email address on your account if you can, and include the date and amount of the charge. Questions like these are usually sorted out within one business day, and a dispute decided against an account results in that account being closed. See Understanding charges from Custody Proof for how charges appear and how we identify them.
Coming back later
Sign in any time. You'll land on the "Welcome Back!" page — choose monthly or yearly and Resubscribe Now. Billing starts immediately, and every record you previously entered is still there.
