Your account, data, and privacy
Custody documentation is some of the most sensitive data there is. This article explains what CustodyProof stores, how it's protected, who can see it, and how to get your data out or close your account.
Who can see your data: only you
CustodyProof is built for one parent. There is no shared account, no co-parent view, and no notifications to anyone else:
- The other parent never has an account and can never see anything you record.
- Nothing you log — custody time, violations, evidence, expenses — is ever shared with the other party.
- "Violations" are your own documented flags on your own records; flagging one notifies no one.
If you choose to share your records, you do it on your terms — by exporting a report or archive and handing it over yourself.
What's stored
Your account holds what you put into it: your name and email, your children's names (birth dates optional), your calendar entries and schedules, evidence entries and their attachments, expense records and receipts, and your subscription status. Payment card details are held by Stripe, never by CustodyProof.
How it's protected
- File encryption: every evidence file and receipt is encrypted with AES-256 before it's stored, in private storage tied to your account alone. Files are decrypted only when you view or download them.
- Encrypted everywhere: all connections use HTTPS, on top of encrypted cloud storage.
- Sign-in: email and password. Change either any time in Settings → Profile (see below). Forgot your password? Use Forgot password? on the login page and follow the emailed link. (Check spam if it doesn't arrive within a few minutes.)
- Analytics measure usage, not content. The product tracks feature usage as counts and flags only — the content of your notes, evidence, transcripts, and children's records is never included.
- AI features: voice audio and transcripts are never stored and never logged; content sent to Vero is processed solely to produce your drafts. Details in Vero, your AI assistant.
- Your consent record: your acceptance of the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy at signup is stored with a timestamp — for your protection too.
The full Privacy Policy and Terms of Service are at custodyproof.com/privacy and custodyproof.com/tos.
Getting your data out
You can export everything yourself, any time, from the Reports page (and the Evidence and Expenses pages):
- CSV of all your custody event data
- PDF reports of statistics, evidence, and expenses
- Evidence ZIP — every file and record you've uploaded, organized in folders
See Reports and exports. If you need a fuller account export beyond the built-in ones, contact support.
Updating your account
Everything below lives in Settings → Profile unless noted.
- Your name: tap Edit next to your name, type the new one, and save. Reports pick up the new name right away.
- Your login email: tap Change next to your email. Enter the new address and your current password, and we send a 6-digit code to the new address — your old inbox isn't needed, so this works even if you mistyped your email at signup and can't receive mail there. Enter the code (it expires in 15 minutes; check spam if it hasn't arrived) and you're done: sign-in, receipts, and reminders all move to the new address, and we send a short heads-up to the old one. If the new address is already used by another CustodyProof account, or you don't know your current password, contact support and we'll sort it out.
- Your password: tap Change password, enter your current password and the new one (at least 8 characters). Your other devices are signed out so the new password is the only one that works. Forgot the current one? Sign out and use Forgot password? on the login page instead.
- Children: add, edit, or remove in Settings → Family.
- Vero context (other parent's name, situation notes): also in Settings → Family, editable any time.
Canceling vs. deleting
- Canceling your subscription pauses billing and (after your paid period ends) access — but keeps your data intact. Resubscribe later and everything is still there. See Plans and billing.
- Deleting your account and data is a separate, permanent step handled by our team — contact support from the in-app Support page or at support@custodyproof.com to request it. Export anything you want to keep first, because deletion can't be undone.
Account closure
Separately from cancellation, an account can be closed by CustodyProof — in practice this happens when a payment dispute (chargeback) is decided against the account. A closed account's subscriptions are canceled and sign-in shows a "This account has been closed" page. If you believe a closure happened in error, contact support@custodyproof.com — our team can review and reopen accounts.
Getting help
- In-app: the Support page (available even if your subscription has lapsed — Settings and Support always remain reachable when signed in).
- Email: support@custodyproof.com.
- If you ever receive a subpoena or legal request involving your CustodyProof records, contact support — and your attorney.
As always: CustodyProof documents; it doesn't advise. Questions about what your records mean for your case belong with a family law attorney.
