Reports and exports
When it's time to hand something to your attorney — or the court — the Reports page turns your records into clean, professional documents. Everything you've tracked is yours to export, as often as you like.
What to hand your attorney (packet order)
Ask your attorney what they want. If they have not specified, this is a sane order to export — the same structure as How to document custody for court:
- Stats Summary (1 Page) — the period in one page. Overnight totals, not a speech.
- Detailed PDF Report — full tables for that period. Turn Planned vs. Actual on when the dispute is who followed the schedule; leave it off when it is not.
- Expense Report — reimbursable (or the category they asked for), with receipts as labeled exhibits.
- PDF Evidence Report — vault exhibits tied to dates, not a folder of `IMG_4022`.
- Export All Evidence (ZIP) — only if they asked for the underlying files.
If you want everything bound into one document instead, the Court Packet (Custody Journal) combines a plain-English summary, color-coded calendars, deviations, and the journal in a single PDF.
Set the time period and child filter before you click anything. The page previews the window ("Reports will cover: …"). A year-to-date medical-expense PDF is more useful than an all-time dump.
A fictional sample of the Court Packet shape is here: sample Court Packet (PDF). Your exports use the same engine on your records.
None of this makes a file "admissible." It makes it dated, filtered, and labeled.
What you can export
| Export | What it is |
|---|---|
| Stats Summary (1 Page) | A one-page PDF snapshot of your custody statistics for the period |
| Detailed PDF Report | The full court-ready report: custody time per child, tables, violations, and (optionally) the Planned vs. Actual section |
| CSV Data Export | Your raw event data as a spreadsheet — for attorneys or your own analysis |
| PDF Evidence Report | A formatted report of your evidence vault, with cover page and exhibits |
| Expense Report | The court-ready expense PDF, with image receipts embedded as labeled exhibits |
| Export All Evidence (ZIP) | Your complete vault: a spreadsheet log, a formatted report, and every attachment organized in folders |
Set the Time Period and a Child Filter at the top — reports cover exactly what you select, and the page spells the window out ("Reports will cover: …") before you export. The period defaults to All time, so nothing is cut off by date unless you choose it; the other options are Year to date, This month, This quarter, This year, Last year, and a Custom range with its own date pickers. If you pick a bounded period and some expenses fall outside it, the expense export tells you how many were left out.
Nights vs. child-nights, in plain terms
Detailed reports show two kinds of totals, clearly labeled:
- Nights — calendar nights of custody. This is the number percentages are built on. One night with all three of your children = 1 night.
- Child-nights — the per-child tally added up. That same night = 3 child-nights.
Both are true; they answer different questions ("how much of the time do I have custody?" vs. "how much per-child overnight care did I provide?"). Reports keep them distinct so nothing looks inflated. More in How custody time is counted.
Reports favor tables over charts on purpose — tables print reliably and are easy to reference line-by-line in a hearing.
The Planned vs. Actual section
If you have an active schedule, exporting a Detailed or Summary PDF first asks: "Include the Planned vs. Actual section?" It compares your calendar against your saved schedule — nights that followed the plan, missed nights, and extra nights — and cites any confirmation you've made that the record is accurate. It's powerful when the other side disputes adherence, but it's your choice whether a given report carries it. Choose Include it or Leave it out each time.
The export tray
Every export you start appears in a small Exports tray at the bottom-right of the screen. It follows you across pages, so you can keep working while reports build:
- Each export shows a live progress bar with step-by-step captions.
- Running exports can be canceled with the ✕.
- Finished exports download automatically and keep a "Download again" button in the tray in case your browser blocked or lost the download.
- The heavier exports (Evidence PDF, Evidence ZIP, Expense PDF) run one at a time — if you start a second, you'll be asked to check the tray for the one already running.
One caution: the tray lives in your browser tab. Refreshing or closing the tab drops in-progress exports — let big ones finish first.
Large evidence archives
A complete evidence ZIP can be big — every photo, video, and document you've saved. Large archives are prepared on the server in the background: keep the app open, and the download starts on its own when it's ready (typically within a few minutes). If preparation is unavailable or times out, the app falls back to a direct download or asks you to try again.
If exports report being busy, wait a minute and try again — very heavy back-to-back exporting is briefly throttled to keep the service reliable, and it always clears on its own.
Where else exports live
- The Evidence page has its own Download PDF Report and Export All Evidence (ZIP) buttons.
- The Expenses page exports the Court-ready PDF and CSV for whatever the ledger filters currently show.
All of them use the same export tray.
A note for court: CustodyProof reports are designed to be clear and court-friendly, but whether and how records are used in your case — and what a court will accept — is a question for your attorney.
