Understanding charges from Custody Proof
What a Custody Proof charge looks like on your statement, the amounts that exist, and what to do if a charge doesn't look familiar. All payments are handled by Stripe — CustodyProof never sees or stores your card number.
What the charge looks like on your statement
Charges appear on your bank or card statement as:
CUSTODYPROOF.COM
If you're scanning a statement for it, that's the line to look for — not "Custody Tracker," not a parent-company name, and not an app-store entry (CustodyProof is a web app, so nothing is ever billed through Apple or Google).
The amounts that exist
Every legitimate Custody Proof charge is one of these:
| Amount | What it is |
|---|---|
| $14.75 | Standard plan, monthly |
| $144.00 | Standard plan, yearly |
| $29.00 | Case Builder plan, monthly |
| $278.00 | Case Builder plan, yearly |
| $9.75 | Legacy single plan, monthly (subscribers from before July 2026) |
| $99.00 | Legacy single plan, yearly (subscribers from before July 2026) |
You may also see a partial (prorated) amount — a few dollars, or an odd figure — if you upgraded to Case Builder or switched between monthly and yearly mid-cycle. Stripe charges only the difference for the time remaining in your current period.
Sales tax, if it applies where you live, is added on top and shown on the invoice.
When charges happen
- At signup. You're charged the plan price the moment you subscribe — there's no trial period, and access starts immediately. See Plans and billing.
- At each renewal. Monthly plans renew on the same day each month; yearly plans renew on the anniversary of your purchase. Your renewal date is shown in Settings → Subscription.
- When you upgrade to Case Builder, or switch billing periods — prorated, as above.
- When you resubscribe after canceling — billing starts immediately.
- If you signed up during the earlier free-trial period, your first full charge was the one that landed when the trial ended.
Don't recognize a charge?
Before anything else, consider the most common explanation: someone else in the household started the subscription. A partner, spouse, adult child, or the person whose card is on file often signs up under a different email address than the one on the statement — and Custody Proof is a private, one-person tool, so nothing about the account is visible from the outside.
It's also worth checking whether the amount matches an upgrade or a renewal you'd forgotten (see the table above).
If it still doesn't add up, email support@custodyproof.com before disputing the charge with your bank. We answer billing questions quickly, and most unrecognized-charge cases are resolved within one business day — often faster than a dispute would even be opened. To help us find the account fast, include:
- The email address used at signup or checkout, if you know it (it may not be the address you're writing from)
- The first and last name on the account
- The exact charge amount and date
- The last 4 digits of the card
- The name on the card
Please never send your full card number. We don't need it, and we can't accept it — the last 4 digits are all we use to match a charge.
If you don't know the signup email at all, write to us anyway. We can look a customer up by the email address on file with our payment processor even when it differs from the one used to log into the app.
About chargebacks
A factual note on how disputes work, so nothing takes you by surprise: if a payment dispute (chargeback) filed with your card issuer is decided against the account, that account is closed — its subscriptions are canceled and access ends. You'd see a page explaining this at your next sign-in, along with a short email notice.
This isn't a penalty we apply by choice; it's how a lost dispute resolves. It's also why we'd much rather hear from you first — a refund or a cancellation handled by email takes a day and leaves your records intact. If you believe a closure happened in error, email support@custodyproof.com; closures can be reviewed and reversed by our team.
Getting receipts and invoices
Every charge has an invoice you can view or download yourself:
- Go to Settings → Subscription
- Click Manage Subscription — this opens the secure Stripe billing portal
- Find the charge under your invoice and payment history
The billing portal is also where you update your card, switch between monthly and yearly, and cancel.
