Understanding your statistics

The Statistics page turns your calendar into the numbers that matter: custody percentages, trends, per-child breakdowns, and how reality compares to your schedule. Everything here follows the counting rules explained in How custody time is counted — nights are what count, each night counts once, and timed visits are tracked separately.

Choosing a period

Every number on the page is for the period you select at the top: Year to Date (the default), This Month, This Quarter, Full Year, or a Custom Range with your own start and end dates. Percentages are your unique custody nights divided by the total days in that period.

The headline numbers

The hero section shows your custody percentage for the period as a ring, plus three cards:

  • Your Days — total unique nights with at least one child.
  • Violations — violations recorded in the period.
  • Best Streak — your longest run of consecutive nights.

The tabs

Overview

Your custody percentage and nights per child (Custody by Child), distribution and comparison charts, and — if you log day visits — a Timed Visits section with the visit count, total hours, and a per-child breakdown. A banner explains the Overnight Method: each night the child sleeps at your home counts as one custody day, so Friday after school through Sunday evening is two custody days.

Trends

How your custody time moves over the months — useful for spotting patterns like a slow squeeze on your weekends.

By Child

Each child's own nights, percentage, visits, and violations. Remember: per-child numbers can each be substantial while the total stays smaller, because a night shared by two children is one night of custody time.

Patterns

Recurring patterns in your data, including violations — when they happen and how often.

Plan vs Actual

If you've saved a schedule, this tab compares the plan against what's on your calendar: time kept as planned, missed, and extra, with a day-by-day deviation table. Only days up to today are compared. This tab is read-only — reviewing and confirming happens on the Schedules page. See Keeping your schedule accurate.

Finances

Your expense totals for the period, drawn from the expense ledger.

Below the custody tabs, an Evidence Stats section summarizes your saved evidence records — kept deliberately separate from custody-time math.

Why Dashboard and Statistics always match

The Dashboard and the Statistics page use the same calculation engine — same night counting, same unique-day rule, same percentage cap. For the same period they will always show the same values. If they ever appear to differ, refresh the page; if the difference persists, contact Support with both numbers and the period.

Common questions

Why doesn't my percentage plus the other parent's equal 100%? CustodyProof only counts what you record. Unlogged days aren't assigned to anyone.

Why did my percentage go down when I logged a visit? It didn't — visits never affect the overnight percentage in either direction. They're counted separately as visits and hours.

Why does my two-night weekend show 2, not 3? Nights, not days: Friday night + Saturday night = 2. The Sunday return day isn't a night. Full explanation in How custody time is counted.

No data showing? The page builds itself from your calendar. If it's empty, you'll see shortcuts to Set up your schedule or Log custody time.
