Keeping your schedule accurate

A schedule on the calendar is a plan. Real life deviates — a missed weekend, an extra night, a swapped visit. CustodyProof helps you keep your calendar matching what actually happened, and lets you confirm periods as accurate so your reports can say you reviewed them.

Everything here lives on the Schedules page, in each schedule's "How it's going" panel — with a gentle check-in on your Dashboard and a read-only view under Statistics.

The "How it's going" panel

Open Schedules and look at the panel under each active schedule. Its status pill tells you where you stand:

  • "Confirmed through {date}" (green) — you've attested that your calendar is accurate through that date. We'll check in again in about a week.
  • "Needs review · N days differ" (amber) — since your last confirmation, some days on the calendar don't match the plan.
  • "Not yet confirmed" — you haven't confirmed this schedule yet.

Expand the panel to review. You'll see a summary — "Since {date}: N days went as planned · M differed" — and each differing day listed with what happened, like "missed overnight," "extra visit," or "modified visit."

Fixing days that differ — right in the panel

Every differing day can be resolved in place. For each row:

  • The plan happened, it just wasn't logged → "It happened — log it." The planned time is recreated on your calendar exactly as scheduled.
  • The calendar shows time that didn't actually happen → "Didn't happen — remove." The extra time is removed surgically: if only part of a multi-night stay was extra, the stay is trimmed or split so the real nights survive. You'll confirm first — removals are permanent, so only do this for time logged by mistake.
  • The calendar is right and the plan was just different that day → use the keep button ("It happened — keep" / "Correct — we missed it" / "Times are right — keep"). This dismisses the row for this review. Real extra or missed time is fine to keep — it's your record, and often exactly the documentation you want.

If the whole window went one way, use the bulk buttons: "They all happened — log all missed" or "None of the extras happened — remove all." The counts update live as you fix or keep rows.

One special case: a day flagged as a violation is treated as evidence — the panel never offers to remove it. Violations are your record of what went wrong; keep them.

Confirming through yesterday

Once the window looks right, choose "Confirm through yesterday."

  • Confirming records your attestation that the calendar is accurate through that date. Your PDF reports cite it alongside the computed numbers — "reviewed and confirmed by the parent" carries weight that raw numbers alone don't.
  • Confirming never changes any calendar event. It's a statement about the record, not an edit to it.
  • If differing days remain that you haven't kept or fixed, the button asks once more — "Confirm anyway" — so you never confirm past a discrepancy by accident. (If you've explicitly reviewed and kept every differing day, it confirms in one tap.)

The Dashboard check-in

You don't have to remember to review. About once a week, your Dashboard shows a quick check-in:

"How's it going — since {date}, did the custody schedule go as planned?"
  • "Yes, as planned" — confirms right there, one tap. (If your calendar shows days that differ, it asks you to confirm anyway or review first.)
  • "Something changed — review days" — takes you straight to the "How it's going" panel.
  • The ✕ snoozes the check-in for 3 days.

If you're logging custody by hand and haven't set up a schedule yet, this slot instead suggests "Track this — add your recurring schedule."

Plan vs Actual (Statistics)

The Plan vs Actual tab on the Statistics page shows the same comparison as numbers: time kept as planned, missed, and extra, for any period you select — with a month-by-month table of every deviation. Two things to know:

  • Only days up to today are compared. Future scheduled time isn't counted either way.
  • This tab is read-only. It shows whether you've confirmed the schedule and links back — "Review & confirm on Schedules" — but all fixing and confirming happens in the "How it's going" panel.

Your Detailed PDF report includes a "Planned vs. Actual Schedule" section (you're asked whether to include it before each export), and the one-page summary carries a schedule-adherence line. See Reports and exports.

The data check: duplicate entries

Also on the Schedules page is a Data check card that scans your whole calendar for exact duplicates — the same child recorded twice for the same stay or visit. Duplicates can happen if the same time was entered two different ways.

  • Duplicates don't change your percentages (each day is only ever counted once), but they clutter the calendar and can inflate the child-night detail in PDF reports.
  • If any are found, expand "Show the duplicates" to see them, then choose "Remove duplicates (keep one of each)." One record of each stay or visit is kept, so nothing you tracked is lost.
  • Genuinely different records are never flagged — two visits at different times on the same day, for example, are both kept.
